Starting today, you’ll have the chance to find all seven members of the FFA Leadership Team and collect a trading card from each one. But there’s a catch—you actually have to find them AND talk to them to get their card! Your goal is to collect all seven and complete your set. Once you’ve collected all seven, bring your completed set to Mr. or Mrs. Dyess to claim your prize! And now, it’s time to meet the first member of your Hunt for the Seven…

🚨 TODAY’S SPOTLIGHT: DYLAN HAWKINS 🚨

Dylan is a senior who loves his truck almost as much as he loves FFA. He can also make a mean chicken parmesan, so apparently, he’s prepared to be both your mechanic and your personal chef.

One important piece of information for your task: you may hear people call him “Devin.” Is his name Dylan? Yes. Will people still call him Devin? Also, yes. We don’t make the rules.

So today, keep an eye out for Dylan… Devin… whatever you want to call him. Find him, strike up a conversation, and get that first trading card!

Seniors! Baby pictures for the yearbook are due by August 28. You may submit them electronically via email to Ms. Kirk at: kirk.christy@lee.k12.al.us, or she will scan your photo in Room E129. Please add "Baby Photo" in the subject line of your email. You may drop off your photo during 3rd block or after school. Photos to be scanned should have your name on the back or be in an envelope with your name. Please do not drop off your photo in the classroom without talking to Ms. Kirk.

The National Honor Society will have their fall meeting in the Media Center next Thursday, September 3 after school. This is a mandatory meeting for all members. 

NHS members who want to run for office please go to Parent Square to fill out the application. Applications are due THIS FRIDAY, Aug. 28. 

NHS members need to also go to Innerview to sign up to help with concessions for the home volleyball games. Members will earn service hours for helping. There are two home games this week and volunteers are needed!!

Attendance Policy Reminders

The documentation below outlines the attendance policies as mandated by the Lee County Board of Education. Please become familiar with them.

• Absences are coded as either excused or unexcused.
• A written excuse must be presented for any absence to be coded excused. Per Lee County Board of Education policy, parents have three (3) days from the day of their child’s return to school to submit a written or online excuse to the appropriate school office. Failure to submit a note within three (3) days will automatically result in the absence being coded unexcused. 

                   9th Grade—The FX Office

                   10th-11th Grades—The Blue/Gold Office

• Written excuses must be submitted for any check-outs or check-ins.
• Per Lee County Board of Education Policy, a parent may present notes for up to five (5) absences per semester. Following the note for the fifth (5th) absence, excuses presented by a parent/guardian will no longer be accepted to excuse an absence. At this point, written documentation must be presented from a medical professional, court official, military recruiter, etc. in order to be coded as an excused absence (Refer to the Student Handbook for more detailed information.).
• Per Lee County Board of Education policy, when an absence is coded as unexcused, the student will not be allowed to make-up any work or assignments for a given class period/block. Realize that the inability to makeup an assignment will result in a grade of zero (0) for any assignment(s) that occurred during any class period/block when the unexcused absence was recorded.
• Student attendance is recorded each class period/block. Students must attend half of a class period/block to be counted present. (Note: With regard to semester exam exemptions, attendance consideration is by class block rather than daily attendance.)
• In order to be counted present for the school day with regard to ALSDE recognized daily attendance, the student must be present for at least half of the school day. (7:30 a.m.-11:20 a.m. and 11:20 a.m.-3:00 p.m.)
• Refer to the Student Handbook for detailed descriptions of excused and unexcused absences. For an absence to be coded excused, it must meet the criteria of an excused absence.
• In order to participate in any after school activity, a student must be present for at least half of the school day.
